Senior ministry officer held for ‘khalwat’ GEORGE TOWN, April 16 — A senior officer of a ministry was detained in a luxury hotel here early this morning for khalwat ( close proximity) following a raid by the Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department. The man, 51 , was found in a room in the hotel in Batu Ferringhi at about 4 am with a 28- year-old woman. The man, who has a datukship, and the woman, who works in the same ministry, were taken to a police station here to have their statements recorded.
